Please note: clone device, hard drive, and other items may vary from those pictured. This kit is primarily for people who's hard drive is failing or has failed. Some features may need to be re-enabled by your dealer. This kit is intended to get you "back up and running" if your existing drive is dead, but features vary from vehicle to vehicle.
Replace the fragile mechanical hard drive in your Porsche Communication Management (PCM 3.1) head unit with a faster and more reliable solid state drive (SSD). Once the PCM starts to reboot on it's own, it's a sure sign the hard drive is on it's way out.
The Porsche PCM 3.1 head unit uses a mechanical hard drive that is prone to failure from heat and vibration which can render your radio, navigation and other features completely unusable. This kit contains everything you need to remove the mechanical drive and replace it with a more modern and reliable SSD.
Our kit includes a new solid state drive, T5 and T25 torx drivers, plastic trim tools, a microfiber cloth, and software update disc.
Save thousands versus a new unit from Porsche!
Works with any PCM 3.1 head unit that has a SATA III hard drive, such as those found in the following:
• 2014-2016 Porsche 981 Cayman/Boxster, S, GTS, GT4
• 2014-2016 Porsche 991.1 911 Carrera, S, GTS, Turbo, GT3, etc.
• 2014-2016 Porsche Cayenne
• 2014-2016 Porsche Panamera
Does not work with CDR 3.1. If you are not sure what unit you have, if you do not have a 'NAV' button on your head unit, then you have a CDR, and not a PCM. The CDR 3.1 unit does not have a hard drive in it, so there is nothing to replace.
Please note that before 2014 it appears that Porsche used an IDE hard drive. To check and verify which disk style is in your PCM unit, you would need to remove the unit, and open the hard drive tray, then check the connector on the drive itself. If it a "pin" style connector with many individual pins on the hard drive, you have an IDE hard drive and unfortunately, this kit will not work.
May work with other PCM models equipped with hard drives, but not tested.
